Privacy notice
We turn documents issued by your child’s school into a list of what you and your child must do. Your child’s education records are sensitive under the Data Privacy Act. We ask your permission for each purpose separately, before we start.

Required - the service cannot work without it.
The document you send, or a school task you type, goes to an automated language model run by Google LLC (and, only during an outage of that service, Anthropic PBC), both in the United States, to identify deadlines, requirements and instructions. These are presented to you as actions for you and your child. Each photo also goes once to Google LLC's model, which reports what kind of page it is so we can put it in the right list. You can move any paper we put in the wrong list. We keep the original document or typed text, so every item traces back to the words it came from. You may also type your child's class timetable or send a photo of it. We read it once to learn their class and which subjects meet on which days, and keep only those - never a name. We do not keep the photo. We use it to work out when work that carries no date is due. We keep each document you send, and each task you type, for up to two years from the day you send it. We delete it sooner if you leave: 6 months after your paid time ends, or 30 days after a free trial ends. When a document is deleted, everything taken from it goes too. We stay responsible for your data with these companies. Every request is set so they collect and keep nothing. We hold each company to its published terms. We set it up, watch it, and replace it if this notice needs us to. This permission is what the service runs on.
Practice built around your child
Optional - refusing changes nothing else about the service.
Photographs of lesson notes, study material and worksheets go once to an automated language model run by Google LLC (and, only during an outage of that service, Anthropic PBC), both in the United States, to record the text printed on the page and the position of any diagram on it. Photographs of graded schoolwork go to the same service to record the questions, your child's answers and the teacher's marks. We store what is read, and the original photograph. Whatever is printed on the paper is stored, including a teacher's name or comment if one is written on it. You can erase any part of the image before it is sent. When you ask for practice or a reviewer, the stored text is sent to the same service to build it. Answers your child taps on practice we made stay in the app and are never sent to the service. A photo of a printed practice sheet goes once to the same service to read your child's answers; we keep the answers, not the photo. We use the teacher's marks and your child's practice answers to choose which topics practice spends more time on, and to show you which topics are getting better. We do not rank your child or predict results. We ask now because this term's material and returned tests are only in your hands once. We keep each photo, and the answers, for up to two years from the day you send it, so last year's lessons are still here for summer review. We delete it sooner if you leave: 6 months after your paid time ends, or 30 days after a free trial ends. When a photo is deleted, everything taken from it goes too. We stay responsible for your data with these companies. Every request is set so they collect and keep nothing. We hold each company to its published terms. We set it up, watch it, and replace it if this notice needs us to. Refusing leaves your other permissions as they are, and we keep no such material. Practice is then made from the topics in your school notices.
Email reminders
Optional - refusing changes nothing else about the service.
Once a day, we count the tasks on your list that are coming up or are late - exams from 7 days before they are due, projects 5, things to bring 3, quizzes 2, homework 1, anything else 7 - for all your children together, and email you the totals by kind - for example "2 quizzes, 1 thing to bring". If nothing is due, we send nothing. The email carries no child's name and no task's words; open Talaskwela to see them. Your email address and those totals go to Sendinblue SAS, which trades as Brevo, in France. Brevo keeps its records on servers in France and Belgium, and some of its service providers are in the United States. Brevo keeps a record of each email for one month - who it went to, when, and whether it was opened or a link in it clicked - but not what it said. We keep only the date of the last email we sent you, so you never get two in one day, and we delete it when you untick this. This permission is optional and the service works without it.
Where your data is kept
We store your account, the documents you send and your lists with Supabase, on servers in Singapore. The app runs on Vercel. Sign-in links and reminder emails are sent by Sendinblue SAS (Brevo), in France.
Taking your permission back
You may withdraw any permission at any time, from inside this app, at no cost. It is no harder than giving it was.
- Withdrawing an optional permission stops only that one, and anything kept under it is erased.
- Withdrawing the required permission ends the service for that child. The documents you sent, and everything worked out from them, are erased.
- Withdrawing does not undo what was lawfully done beforehand, and it does not affect your other child if you have more than one.
What your child is told
Your child is given their own explanation, written for their age. That is our duty, not yours, and telling them yourself does not replace it. Read it here.
